Olivia Davis grew up in Eugene, Oregon where she began her studies in violin performance at the age of nine years old. She attended the University of Oregon where she received her B.M. in Violin Performance and Music Composition in 2013. Olivia studied violin performance under Kathryn Lucktenberg, and composition with David Crumb, and Robert Kyr. In her last year of studies at the University of Oregon, Olivia began playing viola, studying with Leslie Straka.
Olivia continued her studies in 2014 at the University of Texas at Austin where she is currently pursuing an M.M. in Composition, and studying with Dan Welcher, Yevgeniy Sharlat, and Donald Grantham. She studies viola with John Largess (violist of the world-renowned Miró Quartet), and has had the opportunity to perform as violist with the University of Texas at Austin New Music Ensemble directed by Dan Welcher, as well as the University of Texas Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gerhardt Zimmermann.

Oregon Connection: Davis was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon. She attended the University of Oregon where she received her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance and Composition. She was a founding member of Ova Novi Ensemble (ONE), and performed many times with the Eugene Contemporary Ensemble (ECCE). She also performed in a local tango orchestra as concertmaster, and had the pleasure to perform many new works (as well as have many of her own pieces performed) in Oregon Composers Forum (OCF) Concerts at the University of Oregon.
